Is this considered BWF

This picture of a guitar with flames around it is on the roof of an all black VW Beetle. It was made by Revell several years ago. Although the flames are tiny, they are flames, and the car is all black, sooo....

Now THIS is a Revell Black With Flames VW New Beetle, David!

  1. I would say yes,the size of the flames don't matter.

  2. I have a Revell BWF New Beetle, but I don't think it's this one.

    My vote: No.

It would be okay in the GWF catagory (Guitar With Flames) but the flames are more in tune (pardon the pun) with the guitar and not so much the car.

Of course, this is where a good lawyer could argue the "Lava Mama" volcano precedent - I KNEW this was going to be a "slippery slope" the minute we passed the Grateful Dead van into the club! But no doubt Farnsworth could win that by debating that flames are a natural by-product of volcanos; they are not so natural to guitars.

Let's hear what everyone else says. By the way David, what does the rest of the car look like?

  4. Yepper, I give it my vote. It is black... it has flames. The last release from JL with the Malibu and the Monaco are kind of subtle, but I will add them. Its your collection, your choice. But I cant wait to add them. I said no in my mind on the Spiderman car, even the designer said "broken glass". And the tribal Karma Ghias (sp) I didnt agree with, but added them anyway. Its rough being a purist.
    This is fun though!!!

  5. Rich, you took the words right out of my mouth with "Lave Mama." And the Spidey Monaco is another good example. "The Committee" has ruled out logos, like the HWs logo being a non-valid part of the flames, since it is always present on every HWs car. However, wasn't there a HWs car that featured the logo as a larger part of the design, and was accepted as a BWF?

Here, we have a black car featuring a a simulation of a Hendrix poster as it's primary design. It's not a logo, but rather a symbol. And the symbol bas flames encircling it's main portion.

Therefore, I would rule that "The Committee" is forced to accept this one, as governed by it's own by it's own rules and above stated cars which they have allowed has set several precedents.

Therefore, any and all personal feelings aside, this one is in fact, a BWF.

    Case is dismissed!
